Buy and Support Finnish Contemporary Comics

Kutikuti will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2025. In honor of this milestone, contemporary Finnish comics will take over museum spaces, with a large joint exhibition opening in the fall at the Kouvola and Kuopio art museums and continuing in special issues of the Kuti magazine. This year has already seen the publication of the “Sarjakuvan paikka” report and a related seminar, the release of the first part of a new anthology series (Tihku) in three languages, and a course on writing comic criticism. The activities are active and growing.

The association has long received vital general support from the Arts Promotion Centre Finland, and in 2022 it received a three-year project grant from the Kone Foundation (the major projects mentioned belong to this entity). However, times are uncertain, and costs are rising while grants are shrinking.

A now mature Kutikuti still needs additional support. Campaign funding will enable the continuation of the anthology series – from author fees to printing costs. It will also cover exhibition expenses and the costs of the special issues of Kuti magazine. Besides major projects, additional income is needed to maintain the organization’s basic operations amidst general inflation, printing and material costs, postage, and rent increases.
