Eszter Szép

Eszter Szép is a postdoctoral researcher at Aalto University in comics and wellbeing. She is from Hungary, where she has taught several comics courses at Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, Budapest, and has edited three anthologies of her students’ comics. She has been a mentor in the WOMCOM – Women Power in Comics, a Creative Europe project that worked for the visibility of non-male comics artists in six countries in the Balkans. She is founding member of the Random Factor Comics Collective and with the Collective she has co-created Complex, a choose your adventure comic (2024). She has self-published some comics and mini comics and was director of the International Comics Festival Budapest between 2019-2023. Her book is a heavily reworked version of her PhD, titled Comics and the Body: Drawing, Reading, and Vulnerability (Ohio State University Press).
