Kati Rapia is a visual artist with a strong and long relationship with comics art and other narratives. She explores human activity and changing worldviews through both historical and contemporary phenomenas and characters. Such are the a historic story of a nature-, God- and self loving astrolog/free lancer S.A. Forsius from 1600s (Pyrstötähti ja Maailmanlopun meininki, Teos 2018) and future scenarios in the story of his wife Anna (Voimia! – Tähtitieteilijän vaimon paluu, Teos 2022), and even her comic cook books where making food is considered a fundamental skill. Rapia puts her person to her subjects: she has climbed the exact mountains told in the stories and cooked the meals – her star sign is Curiosity. Rapia was awarded the 2018 State Prize for Comic art. She also has a mimic performance by her Käsi-character.
