After graduating from the European School of Visual Arts in Angoulême, Johanna has built a career both drawing comics, which have been published in various journals and collections, and organizing seminars, festivals, and workshops. Her comics often have a strong feminist message and are a reaction to injustices or faults she has witnessed. Johanna also perceives a big divide in terms of opportunities between men and women in the Finnish comic scene. For example, women tend to be underrepresented in panels, print publishing, and in the editing sector. In this regard, it is important to be aware of every choice made, consider alternatives, and always remember that representation matters.
