Lauri is a comic artist and painter living and working in Tampere, Finland. His art deals with the everyday horror of life and one of his basic themes is the alienation and disconnection of people from others and their self. Art is the manifestation of inability to live life. While art is entertainment, art-making can be a process, caught between the artist’s conscious will and unconscious instincts. The horror genre was one of Lauri’s early artistic influences and he has fond memories of the horror movies he managed to watch as a child. He was also interested in skateboarding, high art, and death metal, and all these interests have converged in his current ties with Fantastic Realism.
